Membership in the MTLA shall consist of four classes: active,
associate, honorary and life.
A) Active membership is available to those persons actively
engaged i the locksmith and/or safe trade. Persons engaged i the
alarm trade without engaging in the safe and locksmith trade will
not qualify for membership. Applicant must be 18 years of age or
older.
B) Associate membership is available to those manufacturing equipment,
or services to the locksmith, security, and safe industries. Associate
memberships, rights and privileges are the same as honorary memberships.
C) Institutional membership is available to those engaged in the locksmith trade as part of their employment for their institution or employer. This shall be proven by letter of acknowledgement on company or Institutional letterhead, signed by an officer of said company or institution. They may not perform Locksmithing for the general public, unless they possess a valid State of Tennessee Locksmith or Apprentice License and are employed by a locksmith company. Institutional membership rights and privileges shall be the same as honorary members, except they will be assessed dues.
D) Honorary membership may be conferred upon any individual who
has performed a distinguished service in or for locksmithing.
Honorary members shall be entitled to all privileges of the MTLA
except the right to hold office, vote on any subject before the
MTLA, or be assessed dues.
E) Life membership may be conferred upon any active member of
the MTLA who has performed a distinguished service to the locksmith
profession. Life members shall be entitled to all privileges of
the MTLA, but will not be assessed dues.
